Happy 2007! I know it has been a while since I have posted anything. I am sorry for taking such a long time. I have been home in Miami for the last month or so and taking advantage of having some time off. I have taken up cooking and have even learned to prepare some of my Grandmother’s Russian recipes!

I have been having a lot of fun learning and experimenting with all different types of food!Last week also brought some excitement to Miami with the Super Bowl coming to town. It was crazy how many people were in South Beach just for the festivities surrounding the big game! I did make it out for just one of the parties and had a great time!

It was just a bummer that all the people attending the game got rained on!As many of you know I usually attend the Adidas Y-3 show during Fashion Week in New York in February however I was unable to make it this year because I came down with a bad case of the flu. I was so bummed not to be able to attend as I just love Yohji’s designs! I hope to make it out in September for his next show! After some time off I am excited to get to work and hit the road again.

I have a few trips coming up and hope some of you will be able to make it out to watch a couple of exhibitions I will be playing in next week. The first, The Mercedes-Benz Classic, will take place just outside of Chicago, Illinois on Monday, February 12th at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates and the second, Ace of Hearts Tennis Tour, will be in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday, February 13th at The VanAndel Arena.

I will once again be participating along with Jim Courier, John McEnroe and Jana Novotna. I will be playing mixed doubles in both Chicago and Grand Rapids which is always such a good time when playing with the 3 of them. Proceeds from The Mercedes-Benz Classic will benefit Jim’s Foundation, Raymond James Courier’s Kids and the Chicago chapter of the First Serve Organization, Love to Serve and the proceeds from the Ace of Hearts Tennis Tour will be benefiting The Miracle Match Foundation.

I am so excited to get back out on the court and have some fun! Again if any of you are in the area, please come out and support these amazing charities. Tickets can be purchased for both events through the internet at www.insideoutlive.com.I hope to see some of you there cheering us on!I also wanted to mention that I will again be playing World Team Tennis this Summer for The Sacramental Capitals. Be sure to check in every so often as I will be posting information on the season soon!

Jacana is a small wading bird of the tropics, with remarkably long toes and nails. It is related to the plover (is a name for small stout, shore birds) and resembles the gallinule (is a water bird that lives in America and Europe) in apperance and habits. The long toes permit the Jacana to run easily over the floating leaves of large water plants, when it searches for food.

Scientific classification: Jacanas belong to the jacana family- Jacanidae. The American Jacana is Jacana Spinosa.

Kangaroo Rats
Kangaroo rat is a rodent that jumps around like a kangaroo on long powerful hind legs. Kangaroo rats grow only about 15 inches (38 centimeters)long, including a tail of more than 8 inches (20 centimeters). They have short front legs, large heads, & big eyes. Their silky fur is yellow or brown on the upper parts & white on the underparts.Kangaroo rats live in the deserts of the southwesters United States & Mexico. They nest in burrows (tunnels) & come out at night to gather plant food. They use their small front feet to stuff food into fur-lined pouches on the outside of their cheeks. They carry the food back to their nests. Kangaroo rats, like their relatives the pocket mice, do not need to drink water. They use the water that is produced when food inside them combines with the oxygen they breathe.
The Kangaroo rat can leap about on its powerful hind legs like a Kangaroo. Its tail is about as long as its body. At night, Kangaroo rats come out from their burrows and search for food. They have large eyes & can see in the dark.
Scientific Classification: Kangaroo rats belong to the pocket mouse family,Heteromyidate. They are in the genus Dipodomys.

June bug: Remember the movie- Mummy returns.

June bug is also called as June beetle or May beetle, is a name for several large brown beetle often seen in the United States during May & June. They
are related to the ancient scarab beetles of Egypt, which were considered
sacred. June bugs are usually seen at night when light attracts them. June bug eat the young leaves of trees and shrubs. They deposit their eggs in the
ground in meadows, gardens, & fields. The young larvae & large white grubs with brown heads. They burrow into the soil in autumn & stay there for two years or more, feeding on roots of corn, grains, grasses & vegetables. They come out in May or June as adult beetles.
Scientific classification: June bugs are in order Coleopteran and scarab family, Scarabaeidae. A common June bug is Phyllophage fascia.

Jumping bean seed. (I am writing about it because of Zaheer Khan's incident Ind v/s Eng 2nd test).

The seed of a Mexican shrub is famous for its quick, jumping movement. The movements of jumping bean are actually caused by a caterpillar that lives inside the seed. Moths of the species Laspeyresia Sal titans deposit their eggs in the shrubs of lowers. After the eggs hatch, the caterpillars burrow into the young seeds of the shrub. The seeds later develop a hard outer wall that conceals any indication of how the caterpillar entered. Scientists believe the jumping helps scare away birds & other animals that might try to eat the seeds. Jumping beans remains active for several months. Then the caterpillar makes a circular lid by cutting through the seed wall. The caterpillar later forms a Cocoon & later change into a moth.
Scientific Classification: The Jumping bean plant belongs to a spurge family, Euphorbiaceous.

Jackal is a wild dog that lives in Aisa, Africa, and South-eastern Europe. Arab call it "the howler" because of its mournful cry and yapping , usually heard at night. Its about 14 inches (36 centimeters) high at the shoulder, and 2 to 2.6 feet (61 to 76 centimeters) long.

Scientific classification: Jackal belong to the dog family, Canidae. The common Jackal is classified as Canis aureus; the black- backed Jackal is C.mesomelas.

Jelly Fish
The Sea wasp is a Jelly fish found mainly in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. A severe sting from sea wasp can kill a person within 3 minutes.

It has no bones. Instead , its body , shaped like an open umbrella, is supported by a thick layer of jelly like
subtance called mesogloea. The fish's tentacles contain stinging cells that inject a pazalyzing poison into its prey.

Scienticfic classification: Jelly fish belongs to the Phylum Coelenterata. Large Jelly fish make up the class Scyphozoa. Most small Jelly fish belong to a class Hydrozoa.
Young ones: Scyphozoan jellyfish produce thier young ones from eggs. These eggs develop into tiny polyps, which attach themselves to the see bottom. The jellyfish grow from the polyps by a process called budding. They are arranged on each polyp like a stack of saucers. The jellyfish, when they reach certain size, are released from the polyp and they develop into adlut jellyfish.

Jupiter: It is the largest planet in the solar system. The diameter of Jupiter at its equator is about 88,700 miles (142,700 kilometers), more than 11 times the diameter of the earth. Ancient astronomers named jupiter after the King of Roman Gods

Orbit: Jupiter takes about 4,333 earth days, or almost 12 earth years, to orbit around the sun, compared with 365 days or 1 year for the earth.

Temperature: Astronomers believe that Jupiter is a fluid planet. It consist primarily of gas, but is composed of some liquid as well. The planet may have a small solid core of rock material. So the temperature at the top of Jupiter's clouds averages about -236*F (-149*C). The temperature in the atmosphere beneath the cloud is much higher. It reaches about 34,000*F (19000*C) at 8,080 miles (13,000 kilometers) from the planets centre. Scientist have not yet determined Jupiter's surface temperature. But they know that its interior is very hot. The planet gives off twice as much energy as it receives from the sun because of its intense internal heat. The central core maybe about 43,000*F (24,000*C).

Mass & Density: Jupiter has a greater mass ( a body of matter with no definate shape) than any other planet. It is 318 times as massive as earth. The force of gravity on Jupiter is much greater than that on earth. A 100- pound (45 kilograms) object on earth would weigh about 264 pound (120 kilograms) on Jupiter. Although Jupiter has large mass, it has a low density (mass per unit volum
e). It is slightly denser than water, and about a fourth as dense as the earth.

Radio radiation: Unlike the other plantes , Jupiter sends out rather strong radio radiation. The radiation is received on the earth in two forms - as bursts of radio energy and as continuous radio energy. It can be received on the earth by radio telescopes.

Stallites & rings: Jupiter has 16 known satellites. Four largest moons of
Jupiter are called Galilean satellites becuse the Italian astronomer Galileo discovered them in 1610. They have diameters greater than 1,900 miles (3,060 kilometers) Two of the moons, Callisto and Ganymede, appear to be made up of equal proportions of rocky material and ice. Other two, Europa and Lo , are made of rocky matter with little or no ice. Lo has active volcanoes. Rest 12 smaller satellites have diameters rangind from about 9 to 106 miles (15 to 170 kilometers). Jupiter also has a thin ring around it. The ring appers to consist mostly of fine dust particles and is much fainter than the bright rings of Saturn. It is estimated to be about 18 miles (29 kilometers) thick and more than 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers) wide.

Jupiter the God: Ju
piter was King of gods and ruler of the Universe in Roman mythology. He is also called Jove. Jupiter had the same powers as the Greek god Zues. Jupiter was the son of Saturn, the ruler of the Universe. Jupiter took Saturn's place. Jupiter's brothers were the gods Neptune and Pluto. His sisters were the Goddesses Ceres, Juno, and Vesta. Jupiter married Juno, who became quenn of gods.

"Mamie Smith"Jazz is a kind of music. It has often been called the only art form to originate in the United states. Jazz music was first played in the United states towards the end of 1800's.

The root of Jazz: No one really knows just where Jazz (music) was born. Although New Orleans is sometimes called the "cradle of Jazz", the music did not come from any particular city.

The golden age: During the 1920's , Jazz flourished throughout the United States. This was often called the golden age of Jazz. Mamie Smith recorded "crazy blues" in 1920, and became the first nationally successful Negro blues singer.

Instruments:Jazz is played with diffrent instruments trumpet, trumbone, saxophoe, clarinet, piano, guitar, bass and drums

About the game: It is a fast and dangerous game that resembles handball.Players use a narrow wicker basket to throw a hard ball against the front wall of court. The basket, called a Cesta , measures about 2 feet (61 centimeters) long. One end has a glove that fits the player's hand. the other end is used for catching and throwing the ball. The ball, called a Pelotu, is slightly smaller than a baseball. The court is called Cancha. The court measures 176 feet (54 meters) long, 55 feet (17 meters) wide, and 40 feet (12 meters) high.
How it is played: In United States singles Jai alai games are most popular. To begin a singles game , the server hurls the ball from his cesta against the front wall. The opponent must catch the call either before it hits the floors or on the first bounce. The opponent then hurls the ball against the wall , and the server must catch it and throw it back. The ball often travels 150 miles (241 kilometers) an hour and can injure or even kill a player. Points are scored only by the player who is serving. Bettings are also placed by spectators.

Origination: Jai alai originated from a game played in the Basque region of Spain and France during the 1600's. the Basque words Jai alai means merry festival. Today Jai alai is favorite sport not only in Spain and France , but also in Mexico and the Philippines. In United States, Jai alai first became popular in Florida and is now played in several states.Jai alai is often called the fastest game in the world. It requires speed , physical energy and strength. This ancient Basque sport is played with a basket like cesta and a ball.
